The Secret To A Successful Weight Loss: What Human Qualities Will You Need?
Involving yourself in a diet is excruciatingly difficult and darn near impossible, but that is what you just have to expect when you are going through a diet. Unfortunately, these are also the reasons why so many people fail to see through their diets until the very bitter end. But if it is that hard, how can it still be possible that so many people can maintain their individualized diets for years? Well, it may be a mystery to most of us, but that is not to say that it can never be accomplished by anyone. All we have to remember is that we have to possess—or if not, develop—some specific qualities that are necessary for us to complete our diets. And to paraphrase a “quote” (more like a tagline, actually) from a certain professional wrestler some years ago, it’s time to bring on the pain!
First of all, we have to admit that Axl Rose was right all along: all you need is just a little patience. But in the case of practicing a diet, you would need to have lots of it. Of course, you really can’t immediately latch on to a new routine at first; that is why we call it “routine” is because it can only be considered as such when we have some “practice” or “experience” with it. If diets were indeed easy, don’t you think that we would have solved the national obesity program by now? Just keep on doing it. The results may not be blatantly obvious at first, but at least you know you are getting somewhere with this.
Now that you have developed this “new thing” called patience, it is now time for some ultimate determination. Just like running a marathon, once you have started running in the race, the most “honourable” thing for you to do is to finish it, no matter how far behind you are. Of course, you might as well whine that you should be excused from having a diet because you have so many responsibilities and you have no time for yourself, so on and so forth, ad infinitum. But that is just it; you are making excuses for something that you know you can easily do if you just set your mind to it. Try listening to the Hatebreed song, This Is Now; not only will your ears be assaulted with Jamey Jasta’s rabble-rousing yet inspirational lyrics, but it will also get your blood pumping so much that you think you can do anything, and that’s the attitude that you are supposed to take when we are talking about diet.
Finally, before you get all too New York Hardcore-y about it, you might as well have a little Zen in your life, as well. The ultimate goal can also be achieved through discipline, and without this quality, you will fall easily to the wayside along with the other “lost souls” who have not managed to complete their dietary regimen. If you can’t eat some certain food, or if you need to exercise at least five times a week, then do it. You can never allow yourself to be distracted with silly things like “How many months did I start dieting by now?” Just keep at it; this is the real key to any successful diet out there.
So, we hope we have inspired you well enough to start planning for a long-delayed “lifestyle change”. If you want to know more tips about dieting and exercise, please do not hesitate to contact your local dietician.
